Best known for his illustrations from Andrew Lang's series of Coloured fairy books, H.J. Ford was also acclaimed for his historical renderings of scenes from the Middle Ages through the 18th century. This collection gathers his most compelling and hard-to-find images from works of fact and fancy, including The Red Book of Animal Stories and The Book of Saints and Heroes.
